Disposable Underwear & Pants

The general-purpose non-woven pant, sold as a bulk consumable rather than a branded garment. Buyers in this group are usually assembling a multi-category private label line, or supplying clinics and travel programs where the unit is replaced daily and the packing matters more than the print.

Not every disposable pant in a catalogue is a period product. This group covers the general-purpose non-woven brief: the garment a clinic hands out with a procedure pack, the pant a traveller packs for a long transit, and the backup a brand sells alongside its period range for the days at either end of the cycle.

It is a commodity category, and it should be bought like one. The specification is short, the price is driven by gram weight, and the winning supplier is the one whose carton maths works rather than the one with the best print.

The build is simpler than a period pant

There is no laminated gusset and no standing leg cuff. A disposable brief is a body of spunbond or SMS non-woven, an elasticised waist, and either welded or sewn side seams. What varies between builds is gram weight, seam type and colour.

Gram weight 20–40 gsm typical Higher weight reads as more durable and holds shape through a full day; lower weight is cheaper and adequate for single-use clinical supply
Fabric Spunbond, SMS, or a cotton-blend SMS adds a meltblown barrier layer; a cotton blend improves hand feel at roughly twice the material cost
Seam Ultrasonic weld or overlock Welded seams are flatter and stronger; sewn seams are cheaper and fail first at the crotch
Waist Elasticised band or gathered elastic Band is faster to produce; gathered elastic fits a wider range of bodies per size

Size and waist coverage

Size run S M L XL
Waist coverage ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓
Custom sizing Waist and hip measured to your size chart; plus sizes to 3XL available on request.

Sizing on this product is forgiving, which is why institutional buyers often order two sizes rather than five. If your channel is retail or travel, offer four: the customer expects the same size ladder as underwear.

Where the demand actually comes from

Clinic & hospital supplyBulk polybag, white only, two sizes, no print. Price is the only variable and carton volume decides the landed cost.
Travel & hospitalityIndividually wrapped, often in a printed pouch. The pack is the product here; the garment is almost incidental.
Period range extensionSold as a lighter backup SKU at the start and end of the cycle, usually in a 3 or 5 pack alongside period pants.

The carton is the product

At this price point the unit cost is a handful of cents and the freight is not. A brief that compresses to 8 mm packs more than twice as many units per carton as one that compresses to 18 mm, and that difference outweighs any plausible material saving. If you are comparing two quotations, compare the number of pieces per 40HQ container, not the FOB price per piece.

Ask for the compression ratio and the carton dimensions in writing. It is the single number that decides whether an order lands profitably.

Buyer questions

Is this the same product as a period pant?

No. A period pant carries a laminated absorbent gusset and a standing leg cuff; a general disposable brief has neither. It is a garment for modesty and containment with a maternity pad or liner worn inside, not a replacement for one.

What gram weight should we specify?

20–25 gsm for single-use clinical supply where the garment is worn once and discarded. 30–40 gsm for travel and retail, where the customer expects the pant to survive a full day without tearing at the seam.

Welded or sewn side seams?

Welded. An ultrasonic weld is flatter, stronger and does not create the thread ends that a sewn seam leaves at the crotch, which is where sewn briefs fail first. The cost difference is small.

Can we print on the garment itself?

Print is normally applied to the pouch rather than the fabric. Printing on non-woven at this gram weight is possible but the registration is coarse and it adds a step that rarely pays back outside a gifting or hospitality program.

What decides the landed cost?

Compression, not FOB price. A brief compressed to 8 mm fits more than twice as many units per carton as one at 18 mm. Ask for carton dimensions and pieces per 40HQ before comparing quotes.

Sampling before you commit

We do not ask buyers to order from a table. Send the build you are considering and we courier a physical sample with its specification sheet, so absorbency and hand feel are checked before a purchase order exists.
